About Us

Wildwood Resort can be dated back to 1902 in our old original guest stay diary. It was once two different resorts, then combined into the Resort it is now. The Resort has 16 cabins, with 3 cabins being open year-round. It is located on Prairie Lake in Chetek, Wisconsin.

Chetek is a booming city in the summer with little “mom and pop” shops located right downtown as well as many different eateries / bars that you can get to by water. There are 6 different lakes that you can access with great crappie, panfish, walleye, bass and northern pike fishing, as well as being able to enjoy water activities such as tubing, jet skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. There are a lot of events that run throughout the summer locally, as well as a drive-in movie theater. In the winter time, it becomes a winter wonderland. We are located on the snowmobile trail and there is always ice fishing to be had on the lakes, not to mention all the different winter activities that go on around the area. Christie Mountain is a Ski / Tubing location, only located around 35 min north east of us. Around 2 hours away from Minneapolis/Saint Paul Minnesota, Duluth Minnesota, and La Crosse Wisconsin, and Wausau Wisconsin, the resort is a great place to be able to explore the surrounding area.

Wildwood Resort was renamed Hitts Wildwood Resort in 2021 when Mike and Jenny Hitt took over as owners. Mike and Jenny have a son and a daughter and are working their hardest to make sure the resort stays family-oriented, and wish to share their love of the outdoors and camping with everyone they encounter. They are always around the resort and doing their best to help improve everyone’s stay.
